Project 3 : Listening Booth ( Individual assignment )

In the final project, I had to design a shop lot with specific style given and the music genre followed by the last two project. This shop lot is situated in a KL shopping mall.

Style : Retro

Music : Hiphop

First of all, we need to have a mind map conclude the products, space divided, design elements , colors and so on. It is very important for us to divide our shop lot space before we went to interior design and structure. My shop is mainly sell skateboard ( deck, truck , wheels ) and hiphop musc cd.

It contain a purchasing area, storage, a few display area, workshop and a skateboarding area for consumers to have a try. 

I took about a month to finalize all my plan , section and perspective. After my plan is finalized , mock up model is produced for my tutor to have a clearer information about my shop interior and space divided. During the final, I was asked to produce minimum of 6 A2 presentation board to represent my shop lot. It must contain music and style information, plan, section, perspective and 3D perspective view.

Project 2 : Listening Booth ( Individual assignment )

In this assignment, I was asking to design a compact listening booth that suits the music genre, language and characteristic that best to express the sound. The space must design to suits human activity , behaviour and posing when they listen to the music playing. The area given is 1500mm(L) x 1500mm(W) x 2400mm(HT). This time , it require all our knowledge about the specific music , for mine is Hiphop. How people will behave themself when they listen to the music, how mechanism will work within the space and how the compacity is the space. At first, my design was being said that too big for only one person o fit in so I need to sort out the issue and come out with a whole new and better idea. 

When it come to critique 1 , pin up, I was being told that the understanding of the mechanism is there but he compact is not there yet.

Thus, I change my idea again into a semi-circular shape of wall which divided into two space, sitting space and dancing or standing space.

 One of my mechanism for disc holder is setting up in between the wall for both side to share. To make it move , just need to pull it down / roll it down then it will rolling in between the wall for user to choose they interested disc and play. The sitting area is design with a nesting chair and drawer in the wall itself. The chair isn't just for sitting but also for lying on it. As the drawer is for any user to put their belongings inside it. Where the other side is having a giant speaker box to give all the users the best sound effect when they listen to hiphop music..

Interior Design Project 1 - Assignment 2

Project 1b : Rhythm wall about Hiphop music ( Individual assignment )

After the first group assignment , I was given another part of the project 1 , rhythm wall. For the wall, we have to design it with expression of hiphop music and add in the tagline ( keyword ). For my rhythm wall, i use the spilt water pattern to cut out with building on it. Also, i choose to use " Wrath of Menace "as my keyword for the rhythm wall . 

The word " Wrath of menace " is actually come from a gangster rap style song, hit'em up by 2Pac.The lyrics in "Hit 'Em Up" were aimed primarily at Biggie and Puffy.Tupac Shakur viciously insults Biggie throughout, the first line by Tupac Shakur is "That's why I fucked your bitch, you fat motherfucker", and threatens retaliation in "Hit 'Em Up", saying "Now you're about to feel the wrath of a menace." He also used the song as a platform to express his belief that Biggie was guilty of stealing his style of rapping, and was merely imitating his lifestyle.

Wrath of menace actually bring out the writer's strong emotions and express to the public. Crime is illegal, but singing a song to release a feeling or emotion is freedom of people. In that time, most of the hiphop people cares a lot about brotherhood and living environment. When they felt unfair beyond on something, they can only express it in their song, their lyrics. Anger, violence, unfair , political and sociality problem.

Thus, wrath of menace means an anger's anger, much more anger than they show in their face but deeper and more in their heart. 

The water spilt represent the significant sign of Hiphop, grafiti and the buildings represent that Hiphop is never going to tear apart with social and city. The flowing water spilt express more of the emotion. 

The whole wall describe how hiphop blend into the city, how unseparated are among city(social) and hiphop.

Interior Design Project 1 - Assignment 1

Project 1 : Infographic Board about Hiphop music ( Group assignment )

As the first week since I am back from a short holiday, first assignment did stressed me out. I never thought that I will have my first assignment in my first class of degree semester 2. For this particular assignment, we've been asked to form a group by choosing several types of music and together to produce a infographic board. I was group with Nadia, Celine , Chloe and Zhi Ying and we are all in Hip Hop group. First of all, all these people were those that I am not familiar with except for Celine. I was worried to have discussion with all of them because they seems smart, talent and have plenty of ideas to share.

During my first discussion in class, I was so quiet . For me, ideas doesn't come out in the moment that we knew what we have to do. I am that kind of person who need times to think and plan. When I saw my group members are so active on giving ideas , I was freaked out. Towards the end, I kept silent and barely spoke a word. I felt bad for not really participated in the discussion.

During our next discussion, I started to gather around my ideas and share with my group members. We shared and discussed and decided and planned together. Each of us in charge of different category .Finally, we've came out with a brilliant idea. Everyone were participating in. We did some research and ideas sketching and we planned to lecturer in tutorial class. 

After we met Miss Sharmila for tutorial, we rearranged our plan and finalized the idea. Everyone was separated in different part of doing the infographic board. Background, famous people, dance style and so on. We worked quite happy and peace together. Not much " drama " happened in our group.

During the process, we found some minor problem and fixed it together. Our expectation to each other were very high, so we would always gave advise to each other to improve our work in a better way. The best thing in my group is they never really complained about the changes of ideas or design or drawing....Thus, I like to work with them all.

Watercolor

Watercolor is a very interesting technique for color rendering. No matter how you mix the color with each other , It can always come out nice effect.Not like poster color or pencil color. In this lesson, I have to use free hand drawing and then use watercolor to render it. Is not that hard actually.

Assignment

For the assignment, I have to use watercolor to render a drawing given by my lecturer.This is to test the understanding of using watercolor and the skill of using watercolor.

Model making

For this model making, I group with three of my friends. We use the layout plan that we drew before to make this model. It actually took us about one and a half days to finish this.  What you can see now is a simple model, it looks like easy to be done but its not. Every cutting and measuring took the most time for us to finish . Especially the window and the door. Everything have to be in actual measurements. Everything must be perfect to cut . However, I really enjoy doing this. 

After the model making, I rendered the layout plan and the right elevation with color marker. This two drawing is what I had draw before. Also, the color rendering is very interesting. When I render the plan, I must not use only one tone to render. This is because only different tone of the color can bring out the beauty of it.

Dead or Alive ( Final projects of Intro design )

For Introduction to Interior Design projects, I have to create a story about what happened in Readng Island. The most important part is to create a weird starting point for the story such as how you be there in the Island.

For my story is about a reality online game. The character is a top rank online gamer. She received an unknown invitation email for inviting her to be a participant of a reality online game. As a " Master " of online game, she found this game very interesting and she accept it. After that, she followed all the instruction given to start the game. However, she is then unexpectedly appear in an Island. 

This is how the story begins......

This will be the POD for the character to rest. This is a cave under a waterfall. With the advantages of not easy to be discovered by the enemies .
